For golf lovers who use this sport for concentration and know what’s the use in competitions, there is a golf course with 18 holes of “Desert type” in the area of Chersonese, about 35 minutes from Elounda. There is a whole modern infrastructure of international standards with a charming landscape, as an ideal place to enjoy the game.

Crete Aquarium is located near the city of Heraklion, covers an area of about 5000m2 and is part of the Thalassocosmos, where there is a research center equipped with technological equipment, educational and entertainment facilities. Both centers because of their size and their unique design are among the largest of their kind in the entire Mediterranean. When you arrive, you will be impressed with the modern building, its architecture resembles a ship directed towards the western horizon of the sea. The trip will roughly take about an hour, and more if you intend to explore all the exhibits.

In Crete, there are well hidden places that even the mythical gods could not find. The Cave of Zeus in the Dicteon of Andron, is one of them. To get there, you must mark the route from the old capital of the district, Neapoli, follow the road to the village of Vrieses and Lassithi Plateau. On the way there you will see a unique nature, and you will visit the mountains at an altitude of 2000 meters from the sea level.

On the opposite side of the Plateau, behind the village of Psychro, is the mythological cave where Zeus was born, the father of all the gods of Olympus. Archaeologists have unearthed findings from the 7th century BC. Natural beauty explains why it has been a place of worship for millennia. For those who do not mind the uncomplicated road, you can continue on through Mesa Lassithi, near the Havgas gorge in the Plateu of Katharo.

 Elounda consists of three settlements: Ano (Upper) and Kato (Lower) Elounda, where the port and the Schisma are located. All three of these settlements are located on the Gulf of Elounda overlooking the beautiful Venetian castle on the island of Kalydon, known as Spinalonga. In the fishing taverns of Elounda you can find the freshest fish throughout the season.

Agios Nikolaos is the capital of the region of Lasithi (Eastern part of Crete). The name of the city of Agios Nikolaos was derived from the Byzantine church located in the Gulf of Mirabello – “Saint Nicholas”.

The city of Saint Nicholas – Agios Nikolaos is located around the famous lake, the beauty of which still surprises tourists and leaves an unforgettable impression. This city was one of the first cities in Crete, where the rapid development of tourism on the island began.

Agios Nikolaos is washed by the largest natural bay of the island of Crete – Mirabello Bay, named so because of the beautiful view of the boundless sea (Mira Bella).
